‘Tis the season to be wary…

Ask a Toddler - Christmas Tree

…of everything.

The food will make you fat. The spending will make you poor. The small talk will be painful. The crowds will be in your way. The heat will make sweat. The cold will make you shiver. All this for what?

I’ve always wondered what the wonder was with Christmas. Is it the gifts? Is it the giving? Is it the fact that we have a chance to consider and reflect? Is it because we catch up with loved ones? Is it the respite from work? I’m not quite sure…maybe a mix of all [or some] of the above.

Whichever makes a wonder of Christmas for you, remember to be wary. This is the season when all the traps are laid to bare. In an attempt to fulfil this insatiable need to consume, to be proper, to fit in we forgo reason, logic and our usual selves. Maybe that’s a good thing? Perhaps it is, but at least know this: everyday is a celebration like every other, you don’t need a phoney date in the calendar for an excuse to eat, drink and be merry.

And if you must, at least give theĀ gift of experience.
