Making time

Ask a Toddler - Clock

You will never find time for anything. If you want time you must make it.

Charles Buxton

I always try putting in place a few measures to ensure I get exposure to challenging and confronting issues, conversations, experiences to try and push my own boundaries and grow as an individual. Both professionally and personally, I take on as much as I think I can handle…and then some. It means that the only way I can achieve what I’ve set out to accomplish is to push myself knowing full well it’ll be a stretch. As a consequence there are moments of stress and extreme exhaustion and I try to adopt some strategies to maintain my sanity and help me handle the pressure: exercise, writing, music. Sleep is critical.

There are also the strategies that just plainly helps to get things done: routine, time-blocking, setting relevant and important priorities. Whichever way I look at it’s always very very busy and when I put it all down in words it makes me feel a little dizzy! But that’s another coping mechanism, writing down what you need to get done…and also acknowledging those you’ve completed. Celebrate your achievements.

In line with my learn, grow and contribute principles I’m making time to live my life. It’s good to be back writing about time…maybe next up we’ll tackle space…
