Luck

Ask a Toddler - Luck

They say you create your own luck…I don’t even know what luck is and that’s not because things don’t ever go my way. Google reckons its ‘success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions’. So our fate is determined by chance and not by any act or omission of our own. What a load of bullshit.

If you know what you want, go and get it. Work hard at it. You have the power to dictate your own life and how it plays out.

The concept of lucky [like any superhero] has its antithesis, unlucky. So when something goes wrong we’ve got a perfectly ‘reasonable’ explanation, it was unlucky. Like the villain in that Marvel comic, unlucky feeds off the evilness, doubt and negativity of the protagonist and those around. You’re the protagonist!

If something didn’t quite go your way, there is usually a pretty straight forward and logical explanation as to why. Whether we are aware of that explanation or choose to remain ignorant is a different story.

So when people say ‘geez that guy’s lucky’ or ‘too bad man, that was unlucky’…it’s actually one big cop-out.

You don’t create your own luck, you live your own life.
