Watching closely

Ask a Toddler - Watching Closely

Do you feel like you’re being watched sometimes? Its because you are.

There are very few places you can go, very few places you can visit where you can remain anonymous if you so choose, or even avoid an ad or someones message being shoved down your throat. Not that we’ve got anything to hide or that we don’t like relevant ads [as opposed to random ones] but sometimes it’d be nice to know nobody is watching; nobody is using our information to build a database that may or may not be used to try and sell us something when we least expect, a space that is free for our own thoughts.

Whether it’s a billboard as we’re driving our cars, a poster as we’re riding our bikes, a pop-up as we’re reading our emails, a log of all web pages we’ve ever visited kept by our ISPs, a street camera as we walk down the street, a record on our credit cards when we purchase anything, a mobile phone tower making sure we’re connected, our public transport tickets; we’re being watched!

Probably nothing sinister in it, probably an attempt to make our lives a little easier right? I’m not convinced but either way here’s the challenge: see if you can stay anonymous for day or half a day or even an hour!
