Falling from grace

Ask a Toddler - Falling from grace

I always think to myself what once was when I hear of people who have fallen from grace.

I’m not talking about that celebrity or sportsperson who has decided to play on for one season too many or has let fame get to their heads thinking they’re invincible only to find out they’re not. I’m talking about our parents and grandparents who, in their day were magnificent physical beings, role models, pioneers, entrepreneurs, risk takers, adventurers.

We all grow old [although we’re still not sure why our cells don’t regenerate], some more gracefully than others. But let’s never forget that despite the fragility and at times absent mindedness, these people helped us define ourselves, our society and have contributed an immense body of knowledge that we sometimes take for granted.

We are all individual and must stand apart from our predecessors [a topic for another post] but for now let us pay tribute to those who have fallen from grace.
