Noise

Ask a Toddler - Noise

Wherever we turn, no matter what we’re doing, we have to deal with noise. Even in complete silence, we filter cognitive noise. This noise is audible and visual too.

Our lives are being bombarded with noise. Useless and utter crap. Noise of no value. Try as we might to deal with the noise, just filtering usurps so much time. Time that is finite. Our time. Your time. My time. Time that is being occupied by noise we don’t even choose to be exposed to.

There are strategies in dealing with noise. People like to call it ‘getting away’ or ‘getting out of town’. Often this involves changing your geographical location but it need not involve travel. Well not literally anyway.

Naturally we are getting better at escaping noise. Only because we have to, there is no other option. But often our increasing efficiency in filtering is replaced with more and more noise…a bit like the Agent Smiths from Matrix…there are just more and more created; its exponential.

This constant bombardment means that audible, visual and cognitive noise is here to stay and hard to escape.
