Never judge a book by its cover

Ask a Toddler - Judge a Book By its Cover

His name is Chopper but most people call him Choppy. He’s a half American and half English Staffordshire Bull Terrier…or Staffy. He looks mean, he can’t help but look aggressive because of his build but he cries when he doesn’t get his Vegemite on toast for breakfast…seriously!

He’ll tare a ball to shreds within seconds if you give him the OK and will lick you to death if he could. People cross to the other side of the road when they see him approaching yet he is the most placid and gentle dog you will ever meet. He’s under the command of a clowder of cats and can’t put a foot wrong in human terms either because he cares so much about what we think of him.

My point is that we have an inbuilt tendency to judge a book by its cover because we’ve been conditioned to do so. We see something that seems a little alien or unfamiliar and we automatically become defensive, dismissive and non-accepting.

It’s a risky business judging a book by its cover because you’ll end up missing out on truly rewarding and fulfilling relationships.
